Value Proposition
Companies around the world devote extraordinary time and resources to developing and fine-tuning the product delivery chain (sales, marketing, distribution, customer service, etc.), but fail to assess the most fundamental of business success factors: their value proposition. A value proposition is not usually determined, it is discovered. It grows out of need. If you set out to create the "best possible business," you may or may not end up with a great business. If you set out to solve the needs of your customers, your business will naturally evolve into something valuable.

At JBC, each of us shares the Group’s passion to seek for better ways, the main force that propels us to strive for a better world. Thus, driven by our brand “Passion for Better Ways,” we developed the “Passion for a Better World” program, which embodies our vision of sustainability.

The “Passion for a Better World” program revolves around what we have defined as the five pillars of sustainability: rejuvenate nature, renewable energy, reduce/re-use, recycle and recharge communities. With these five pillars as foundation of our sustainability program, we envision to establish a balance between people, planet and profit. We recognize that the Group’s survival largely depends on the well-being of the people we serve and the state of the planet we all live in. Each of our business operations unit has developed and implemented activities that are aligned to this triple bottom line ideal.

Moreover, JBC Holdings, being able to explain a value proposition to customers, employees, and shareholders is the most important part of his or her job. The best way to start getting employees and management aligned is to understand the benefit the company is trying to deliver to its customers. There are only four types of consumer benefits that matter we considered most and by extension only these four categories of value proposition works.

1. Best Quality. Something at best is a pretty good business model. However, best-in-class products or brand does not need to be luxurious to define quality that each business units considered.

2. Best bang for the buck. The fact that some consumers will always buy on price it doesn’t mean that best-in-class products should always mean lowest price but rather it should be at best quality-to-price ratio.

3. Luxury and aspiration. On the other end of the spectrum from bang-for-buck players are luxury providers that promise the experience of a wealthy lifestyle to aspirational consumers. While the luxury segment was hurt during the downturn, it is almost certain that as the economy rebounds that customers will return to luxury goods as their discretionary spending increases.

4. Must-have. One of the most attractive value propositions we have seen and studied are the "must-haves." These include basic goods — certain foods, for instance. These were the talked about "must-have" content that business professionals could not do their jobs without. As long as there are legal cases, there will be a need for legal information. It does not mean there will not be competition, but if the category you are pursuing is must-have, then the market leaders will have a great prize to share.
